Call for papers and talks

The FC Workshop on Decentralized Finance (DeFi) promotes research on blockchain or distributed ledger-based financial protocols. This workshop aims to bring together researchers from disparate fields, including computer science, economics, finance, and mathematics, to design and analyze blockchain-based financial systems.

We encourage both theoretical and empirical work—from either industry or academia—that provide new insights related to existing mechanisms, or that propose new designs for DeFi protocols. We offer two submission formats:

  1. Talk. (~2 pages). Must include abstract, title, and speaker who will attend. These talks may showcase original research or innovative software of interest to the DeFi research community. Please begin the title for talks with the text "Talk:". (Selected proposals may submit a precis of the talk that is up to 4 pages in LNCS format, excluding references and appendices, for inclusion in the Workshop Proceedings. The precis will not be subject to further review.)
  2. Paper. (Up to 8 pages, excluding references and appendices in LNCS format)

Researchers who wish to publish their full work elsewhere (e.g., in a journal) are encouraged to submit a talk proposal for the workshop.

Topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Decentralized exchanges: automated market makers, liquidity provision, etc.
  • Prediction Markets
  • Liquidity provision in DeFi protocols
  • DeFi lending protocol design
  • Decentralized derivatives
  • Incentive mechanisms in DeFi
  • Game theory in decentralized applications
  • Stability, risk, resilience, security of DeFi systems
  • Miner extractable value (MEV)
  • DeFi attacks, attack techniques, and attack case studies
  • Governance of DeFi systems
  • Scalability of DeFi protocols
  • DeFi composability
  • Economics of cross-chain and L1/L2 interoperability
  • Use and design of oracles in DeFi
  • Privacy and security of DeFi protocols
  • Stablecoins
  • Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs)
  • Empirical studies of DeFi

The workshop will additionally feature presentations from invited speakers.
